Early career
From economics to analytics to data science
I studied economics at Tufts, then did an MS in Analytics at Northwestern. I worked in finance and analytics in London and Shanghai before moving into data science. I also held a military leadership role in Singapore.
Problem
Learning the basics before tech: quantitative methods, business context, and how to work across cultures.
Approach
Economics at Tufts, then the quantitative toolkit from Northwestern's MS in Analytics. Roles in London and Shanghai taught me how businesses make decisions. Military service in Singapore taught me to lead.
Outcome
A data science career that pays attention to both the numbers and the business around them.
