UmiLog

Explore, plan, dive, relive on an area-first map

UmiLog dive site map with bottom sheet and site markers
ongoingiOS2026

Platform

iOS (SwiftUI, GRDB, MapLibre).

What it does?

A dive log where the place and the dive are one system: map, site graph, wildlife record, and personal log, including with no signal.

Highlights

  • Start at ocean scale and walk region to area to site on the map, even offline. The path is a graph (parents, neighbors, aliases), not a flat pin dump.
  • Open a site and see which names, coordinates, and wildlife claims are evidenced, which are still uncertain, and which aliases have not been merged.
  • Log a dive and the species you saw as one save, then scroll the timeline for that place later.

Architecture

Local-first GRDB holds the graph and the log. MapLibre vector tiles with a runtime theme. Seed is Wikidata plus a curated crosswalk, audited rather than trusted. Current work is grading site and wildlife evidence so the graph stays honest as it grows.
